noblahblah
noblahblah doesn’t intend to theorize contemporary art displayed on the website.
It is more about showing artists’ work by focusing on the process.
Each one has his own page including : materials, location, introductory text (optional interview), well defined photographs, some links and a selected bibliography.
Contemporary art is said to be elitist. For this reason, noblahblah is an attempt to free contemporary art from the rhetoric that is usually associated with it.

Born in 1977 in Nancy, France.
1999: MA in Art History and Greek Archeology at the Ecole du Louvre, then began studying Contemporary Art at the Sorbonne.
From 2001 to 2002 she was Patricia Dorfmann’s assistant at her gallery. She also wrote reviews for Anglo-Saxon magazines on an occasionally basis. In 2004 she was invited to curate a show at Tate Liverpool for A Secret History of Clay.
In 2003 she documented the Day of the Dead in Mexico with photographs. With her knowledge of the Mexican art scene, she was being asked to be an advisor for the Day of the Dead 5th International Festival, which took place simultaneously in Mexico, New York, London and Paris from November 1st to 3rd, 2007.
Fluent in English, German, Spanish and Italian.
She is currently working at Palais de Tokyo, center for contemporary art located in Paris.

noblahblah n’entend pas théoriser les pratiques artistiques qui s’y trouvent recensées.
Il s’agit davantage de présenter le travail d’artistes en se concentrant sur le processus de création.
Chacun se voit attribuer une page comprenant : le medium, la location, un texte exposant le travail (interview dans certains cas), quelques images de bonne qualité ainsi que des liens et des informations bibliographiques.
L’art contemporain est réputé élitiste. C’est pourquoi noblahblah se veut une tentative pour affranchir l’art contemporain du discours dont il est traditionnellement affublé.

Née en 1977 à Nancy.
Diplômée en Archéologie grecque à l’Ecole du Louvre en 1999, elle entame l’année suivante un cursus en Art contemporain à la Sorbonne.
Collaboratrice de la Galerie Patricia Dorfmann de 2001 à 2002, rédactrice occasionnelle pour des revues anglo-saxonnes, curator invité à la Tate Liverpool en 2004 pour l’exposition A Secret History of Clay.
Une série de photos documentant la Fête des Morts au Mexique qu’elle réalise en 2003 et sa connaissance de l’art contemporain mexicain lui valent d’être consultante pour le Ve Festival Internacional del Dia de los Muertos. Ce festival se tenait simultanément à Mexico, New York, Londres et Paris du 1er au 3 novembre 2007.
Elle parle anglais, allemand, espagnol et italien.
Elle travaille actuellement au département de l’Action Culturelle au Palais de Tokyo à Paris.

Margherita Balzerani: Could you tell us about your training?
Adeline Wessang: I studied literature, languages and arts in high school. The decision to study art history and archeology at the Louvre School afterwards came naturally, even if I didn’t know what I wanted to do at the time.
How did you get interested in art?
I think my grandmother Yvette played a major role. She was very educated and she used to paint a lot. She threw “painting” afternoons together when I was a teenager.
Which artists were important to you?
Francis Bacon, David Lynch, Gustav Klimt, Théodore Géricault, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo.

Both, depending on the journey. I’d like to travel with Orient-Express in good company one day, no matter the destination.

Margherita Balzerani : Pouvez-vous nous parler de votre parcours?
Adeline Wessang : J’ai suivi des cours de littérature, de langues et d’art plastique au lycée. J’ai ensuite suivi un cursus en histoire de l’art et en archéologie à l’Ecole du Louvre. C’était une inclinaison naturelle, même si je ne savais pas précisément ce que je voulais faire à ce moment là.
Comment vous êtes-vous intéressée à l’art?
Je pense que c’est ma grand-mère, Yvette, qui m’a transmis cet intérêt pour l’art. Elle était extrêmement cultivée et elle peignait beaucoup. Lorsque j’étais adolescente, elle organisait des après-midis “peinture”.
